Desai Fruits and Vegetables participates at the ‘Second Reverse Buyers and Sellers Meet’ - 16th May 2018

The ‘Second Reverse Buyers Sellers Meet’ was organised on 15th and 16th May in Mumbai by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, with the objective to promote and give a fillip to exports of Indian mangos and other tropical fruits like pomegranates, pineapples, banana and jackfruits.

This platform was an opportunity for Desai Fruits and Vegetables Private Limited (DFV) to showcase their strength as one of India’s leading banana supplier, focused on both, the rapidly growing Indian domestic and global markets. DFV’s Happy Banana brand has become India’s leading and most trusted banana brand.

DFV is well known for its core strength in managing quality control right from tissue plant, providing full traceability right down the to the individual farmer field level. DFV’s excellence stems from its technical know-how and ability to ensure end-to-end supply chain management.

In terms of exports, DFV has already pioneered the production and export of international-quality Cavendish bananas out of India. With over 5,000 containers shipped till date.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Singh, Chairman APEDA said, “There is increasing acceptance of horticulture produce and exports from the country. In 2016-17, India exported fresh fruits and vegetables worth $1.6 billion and processed fruits and vegetables worth $1.1 billion to over 40 countries.

50 buyers and importers from 20 countries such as Japan, China, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Iran, Bahrain Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Israel, Thailand, Britain, Mauritius, Malaysia, Greece, Egypt and UAE attended the meet.

Moreover, the Government of India will be soon coming out with an export policy for agro and other such products.

Desai Fruits & Vegetables has a new COO - 7th Dec 2017

To accelerate the implementation of its ambitious plans, DFV has appointed industry veteran Mr. Azhar Pathan as COO reporting to Mr. Ajit Desai, Managing Director. Azhar is a Ph.D. holder and has an M.Sc. in Agriculture Genetics along with Masters in Business administration with Marketing Specialization. He has 25 years of experience in agriculture sector.

Azhar has worked with companies such as HLL, Monsanto Holdings Pvt. Ltd, Deepak Fertilizers and Yousef Bin Abdul Latif & Sons Agriculture Co. Ltd. Reporting to Azhar, with immediate effect will be all key operation roles including Head of the Operations, Technical, SCM & Logistics, HR & Labour and Engg. & Infrastructure.
